Touring the Museum and Grounds

Visit us in Camden, South Carolina, where steeplechase champions are crowned. Come and enjoy the numerous exhibits and displays, constantly evolving, that tell the rich history of our sport. We are happy to give tours of the museum and the grounds of surrounding Springdale Race Course. We have an extensive collection of trophies, photographs and films, as well as our research library.

Women In Steeplechasing

Women in Steeplechasing honors the struggles, contributions, and achievements of women in the sport of steeplechasing. The exhibit focuses on eight of the most accomplished women in the sport: Marion duPont Scott, Beverly Steinman, Gillian Johnston, Cassandra Neilson, Janet Elliot, Danielle Hodsdon, and Blythe Miller-Davies.

Jonathan Sheppard

Sheppard’s Southern Campaign

All-Time National Steeplechase Association leading trainer Jonathan Sheppard left an indelible mark on the world of steeplechasing. Jonathan Sheppard’s Southern Campaign examines his remarkable achievements on the “Southern Circuit” of the NSA’s race meet. The exhibit features a number of the impressive trophies won by Sheppard at race meets like the Colonial Cup, the Iroquois, the Imperial Cup, and many more.

Austin & Sally Brown

The Founders Room

The Founders Room celebrates the life and legacy of Austin and Sally Brown, two noted equestrians who made Camden their home. The room is home to fabulous paintings, stunning trophies, and countless photographs and mementos honoring Austin and Sally. It is a fitting tribute to the man whose vision created the National Steeplechase Museum.
